Welcome to the sixth annual Chicago Shimmyfest where the Magic of the Orient lies in the Heart of the Midwest! Study with world famous artist Jasmin Jahal, awarded "Best Modern Egyptian Dancer" by IAMED, in an intensive 20-hour workshop plus an exclusive private coaching session! Having mentored with the late, great Ibrahim "Bobby" Farrah, Jasmin offers you the opportunity to study in Chicago as she had once done with Bobby in New York. Evolve, energize, and enjoy while exploring your passion for the art of classical Oriental dance.

The event opens with a Cocktail Reception and Opening Ceremony on the evening of June 24. Mix and mingle, meet and greet your fellow workshop participants. If you like, there is a great opportunity to perform in an intimate, elegant atmosphere!

The challenging, intensive 4-day 20+ hour workshop is packed with advanced technique and exciting choreography, designed to entice intermediate through professional dancers. There will be live drum accompaniment, structured combinations, and intricate music! There will also be an optional extra day offered to help polish your technique and choreography. The workshop will be held at the spacious, professional facilities of the Jasmin Jahal School of Dance, recognized by Chicago Magazine as "Best of Chicago."

Top it all off by performing in the fabulous Gala Show to be held on the evening of June 28. Test your talents with the art of improvisation to live Arabic music, or participate as a glamorous model in the fashion show! You will be a star on a professionally produced DVD!
